Port of Galveston Cruise Terminal

A first-time cruiser's guide to sailing from Galveston, Texas — the only major cruise homeport in Texas.

Cruise ship docked at the Port of Galveston cruise terminal on the Gulf Coast of Texas

Galveston is one of the most important cruise homeports on the Gulf Coast and, importantly, the only major cruise homeport in Texas. The port is actually a large working commercial seaport as well as a cruise facility, located at the entrance to Galveston Bay and the Houston Ship Channel. The port complex covers roughly 840 acres and is only about 45 minutes from open water.

Important distinction: The 123 Rosenberg Street address is the Port's administrative address, not necessarily the address you should enter into your GPS on cruise day. Your GPS destination should be the specific cruise terminal assigned to your ship.

2. Cruise Terminals

Galveston now has four cruise terminals, which is particularly important because the terminal assignments have changed as the port has expanded.
